De Geus, JoyPhone: 04 239 8005
Nature and the environment has always played a big part in her work, which inspired her to work for Greenpeace for a couple of years.
After 15 years in Europe her New Zealand roots pulled her back and she settled in Kapiti where she has been painting and teaching for 10 years and participated in and organized various Art Expositions in the Wellington area.
Due to her nomadic lifestyle the practical aspects of Watercolour have dominated the direction her work has taken, which can be seen in the layered transparency and lightness of the watercolour style. Combined with her passion for colour, these elements can be found in all facets of her work, from landscapes, life drawing, portraits, lino cuts and lithography to the larger material dye/batik paintings that have developed out of this.
