Watercolour New Zealand Latest News & Announcements

'Splash' Exhibition 2013 - Call for Artists

3 July 2013

Great news!
The 2013 Watercolour New Zealand national exhibition, 'Splash' is to be held from 5 to 15 September at the St Paul's Cathedral in Molesworth Street, Thorndon, Wellington, a magnificent building situated right across the road from Parliament. It has wide aisles and large foyers for free-standing exhibitions which has regularly hosted major art exhibitions such as ‘Arts Encompassing’.

Our guest artist for 2013 is Roger Daniell of Waikanae who is currently floating along canals in France on a barge.

This exhibition is only weeks away, so get your brushes flying and aiming high with your efforts as there is a Watercolour New Zealand Supreme Award valued at $750 at stake.

There are a few important changes this year:

The opening is on a WEDNESDAY evening, 4th September, between 5.30pm – 7.30pm and will swing with jazz, wine and nibbles.

Members can submit 2 framed and 2 matted works for a $30 entry fee.

Entry forms need to be pre-paid and posted by 23 August 2013.

Note: Framed works will be eligible for the Supreme Award; framed paintings cannot exceed 80cm width including the frame (as they are being hung on panels). We can offer a cellophane wrapping service of $4 per matted work, or you can buy a roll of cellophane from the birthday wrapping paper section at your local bookshop and do it yourself.

On Sunday 8 September we will be serving scones and jam to all parishioners, visitors and members and there will be several painters providing demonstrations and floor talks from 11am to 2pm.

If you know any other WNZ members who may not be on our email mailing list, please forward this onto them as we don’t want them to miss out on this opportunity. We will post entry forms to members who do not have access to the internet.

Every exhibition is supported by a great bunch of volunteers who help set up and take down the exhibition, prepare nibbles for the opening and join rosters to mind the exhibition during the season. You can learn new skills for exhibiting and selling your own works. If you would like to help contact Dianne Taylor Phone (04) 934 2358 Email
